Happy Saint Patrick’s Day (for those of you who celebrate. If you’re Scottish, my apologies and we’ll see you tomorrow for TLIF).
I’ve been reading all the blogfests over the last few days and been bummed I didn’t sign up for any. And then, lo and behold, I remembered this morning that I had ^_^
The original post is here. The concept is to post 200-ish words of flash fiction related to today’s festivities (mine is closer to 230. I tried to trim it, I really did, but it didn’t work). So, when you’re done here, follow the link and go read everyone else’s awesome blurbs.
I wrote this quickly this morning, so it’s not an existing/WIP thing. But enjoy ^_^
She rolled her eyes and pressed her forehead against the the cool glass. A dull throb was starting at the base of her skull and she wondered if she should have had that green beer. Festive or not, it was making her more uncomfortable than the green top she’d thought would be sexy until she’d left the house in it.
He droned from the driver’s seat.
She blinked and turned. “What?”
He parked in front of her house, a tiny smile playing on his lips. “Why’d you order the beer if you weren’t going to drink it?”
He’d noticed that? A whisper of heat crept into her cheeks. “Who said I didn’t?”
“The half full glass on the table. Drunk after just a couple of sips, huh?” Laughter flashed in his blue eyes.
Okay, pretending to be drunk to get a ride home had been stupid. But it made her green thinking of him leaving with someone else.
His hand rested on her neck. “You could have just asked.”
He was so close, and her pulse was reacting. “Really?” she whispered.
He leaned in, nose almost touching hers. “Well, yeah.”
She swallowed, lips tingling in anticipation. “I’m sorry.”
He reached across her and opened the car door before sliding back into his own seat. “Something to consider next time. See you tomorrow.”
What a tease.

Ooooo, could feel the heat of that moment!
So many possibilities….
Okay, she best not be getting out of that car until she makes sure he doesn’t plan on turning around to go back to the bar! ;o)
Woo hoo! Love the sexual tension. You and I were on the same wavelength!
Ah, she had to drink green beer for nothing???!!! 🙂 Happy SPD to you!
Awe teasy!!! I’m so glad I caught you! What a great entry! Thanks so much for playing along, and consider yourself entered in the contest!
Ah yes, the shoes that seem like a good idea until walking is involved. Wish I could have a green beer though. I liked this. Both characters had a personality in just a short amount of words. It was realistic and entertaining. Though I do know someone who when she first started drinking probably would have been drunk after half a beer (real one, not the 3.2 stuff). 😉
Oh I love the sexual tension you whipped up on a moment’s notice. Bravo!
Nice to meet you and Happy St. Patty’s Day! 🙂
Oh man! Leave me hanging! I love a good almost-kiss scene. Great job!
Thanks for participating!
Good for him…. You ladies play way too many games on a poor defenseless dude.
I thought this was very nicely done. Good character tension, great ending. Bravo!
First, I LOVE your blog! I’m so glad that I found it through the blogfest. Second, total tease!! How clever – I never thought about pretending to be drunk to get a ride home. I’m a bit old for that…plus, my husband is always there to drive me home. But if I were in my twenties again, this would have been an informative post as well!
