(If you can stick with me until the end, there’s a point to all of this)

I woke up about an hour early this morning and because it was Friday, did not feel compelled to try and go back to sleep. Yes, that makes a difference. If it had been Monday, I would have laid there for another hour pretending I was still sleeping and not looking forward to starting my week.

Crawling my nappy butt out of bed, I stumbled to my laptop (yes, I wake up to my laptop in the morning, doesn’t everyone?). I decided I needed to finally redirect my blog to my personalized url. (http://blog.apathyshero.com for those of you not noticing the new letters in the address bar). I spent an hour doing that and deciding at the end of it all that anything that’s been dumbed down for non technical people just pisses me off. Because I still haven’t figured out how to change the landing page on my website, and if they would just let me edit some directory settings directly, I would be fine. But I think I only paid for three months of hosting, so I might find another web host real soon here.

Then I went to McDonalds for breakfast. I don’t eat their eggs any more, because about a month ago, my McMuffin had shells in it. When I lived in Atlanta, my roommate introduced me to a horrible but addictive habit – sausage biscuit with cheese and grape jelly. Cringe if you’d like, it’s disturbingly good (to me anyway). So I asked the guy at the window for some grape jelly, he gave me four packets. It takes less than 1, so now I have extra grape jelly for next time I order a biscuit (which I do maybe once a month). Oh, and I have a mocha. The one thing they do better than Starbucks and to me that’s just wrong – anything from McDonalds with ‘mocha’ on it trumps anything else with ‘mocha’ on it except may Einsteins. Who make the best mochas in history (to me anyway).

What does any of this have to do with writing? I’m getting there. The mocha for breakfast is celebration. Redirecting my blog to my personalized URL is a symptom of the cause of the celebration. I got a short story acceptance last night ^_^ One of my favorite short stories is going to be published by Infinite Windows next month ^_^ Their contract let me list a website address, so I decided to make mine official. And maybe this weekend I’ll even finish my redesign (and the one I’m like 75% done with for Mireyah).

Thing I love about this story? It was an exercise in curing writer’s block. I took two of my characters from other books, plopped them in a new universe and saw how they would react. I think I’ve changed the male lead’s name, but if anyone is familiar with Uriel’s Fall and Apathy’s Hero (formerly Captain Apathy) (Note the correlation to the new URL), Conner and Elle take center stage. And my apologies to Lucifer in advance for the malignment. He’s not my Lucifer, though. My Lucifer would never go along with such a thing.
